ARETHUSE
The association was founded in 1985, following a scientific meeting among Spanish, Italian and French professors held at the University of Malaga in Spain. Since then, every year each one of the participating universities has hosted a meeting among its members.
The diversity of the issues and the different scientific and cultural backgrounds of the participants are the main characteristics of the Arethuse meetings.
The previous meetings have explored topics including:
- General issues, such as the economic and management specificities of Southern Europe, the dynamics of Southern Europe, the internationalization of Southern European regions;
- Corporate themes referred to business systems, strategic planning and management, business organization and human resources development;
- Sectoral issues, such as the economy of fisheries and aquaculture, the agri-food economy, the economic impact of tourism;
- Spatial planning issues, such as the effect of the concentration of economic activities, the management of human resources, the role of natural capital and environment in the economic development of Mediterranean countries;
- The financing of regional and local development policies.
